Sculptures and furniture design

Based on the knowledge of materials InHolD has developed several ideas related to sculpture and industrial design.

Such as a lamp inspired by LiTraCon and built with infra-lightweight concrete together with Alexander Hückler and Martin Wilcke.

At present InHolD is developing a line of foldable furniture and a series of interactive sculptures.

Urbanism and lanscaping

InHolD collaborates with one of the winning teams of the 1st Phase of the Espai Glòries Competition and we are preparing the 2nd phase (collaboration with 'Joint Venture (UTE) among Professors of Architecture: Enric Serra – Moisès Gallego – Jordi Bellmunt and Professor of Bridge Engineering: Ángel Carlos Aparicio' team)

Les Glòries is one of the most important nodes in the city of Barcelona. The history of this junction goes back to Cerdà's city plan and has been changing ever since (you can watch the Hystorical evolution in our gallery). It is one of the main entrances to the city and it must combine high intensity of private means of transport, public transport and a pedestrian and cycling friendly space. It is going to become a new centrality node of the cit, with the design of a 14Ha park, traffic tunnels for high velocity lanes and a public transport intermodal station.

Research

Wide research about Spatial Arch Bridges (SABs). SABs are defined (Sarmiento-Comesías et al, 2010) as bridges in which vertical deck loads produce bending moments and shear forces not contained in the arch plane due to their geometrical and structural configuration. Moreover, the arch itself may not be contained in a plane.

See publications.

Shell arches research was presented in FoD 2013, London.
